Los
Angeles:
Off the beaten track
Few visitors venture much beyond the places
mentioned in the previous L.A. pages, but do as the locals
do. The areas discussed below are places loved by southern
Californians, but often overlooked by tourists.
- Forest Lawn - the wacky and wild
combination cemetary and amusement park with larger-than-life
biblical depictions. Since the 1930's, this has been the place to be buried in Los Angeles.
- San Gabriel Valley, Huntington Library, Pasadena
- visiting Monterey Park, the Huntington Library and Gardens,
and the city of Pasadena.
- Knotts
Berry Farm Amusement Park - the old berry patch ain't
what it used to be . . ..
- Burbank - Go beyond Universal Studios to enjoy this centre of film and television
production.
