Reaching the Mall at Short Hills
The Mall
at Short Hills is easily reached by New
Jersey Transit trains from Penn Station in New York City.
On your way, you'll pass by the Short Hills
station, but won't get off there.
After arriving at the Summit station, you transfer
to the nearby mall using either a local bus or taxi.
At Penn Station, buy an inexpensive day return
New Jersey Transit rail ticket to Summit.
Exit the Summit terminal on the side facing
the shops for a taxi or on the side facing the park for
a local coach.
The bus stops along the main highway that runs
along the park. Do not cross the highway.
The bus drops you at the Nordstrom entrance to the Short Hills Mall.
This trip is best done weekdays when trains
and coaches run more frequently. However, avoid the early morning
and late afternoon rush hours.
The stores at the Short Hills Mall
At Short Hills Mall, the Nordstrom department
store is a must stop for any visitor.
The stores in this deluxe chain offer perhaps the best customer
service of any large chain in North America. It is simply outstanding.
Soothing live piano music greets you as you walk in. Exceptionally well-trained staff serve you.
These stores sell record levels of merchandise per square foot.
If your feet are hard to fit, the Nordstrom shoe section is known
for carrying all sizes. It'll even sell you one size shoe for one
foot and another for the other at no extra cost.
Neiman
Marcus also offers an interesting shopping experience.
This chain is best known for its outrageously creative holiday
catalogues.
More accessible price-wise is the popular Macy's. You'll save
some taxes here instead of purchasing at the main store in Manhattan.
You'll also find a large selection of mostly upscale smaller stores.
See the Mall at Short Hills link below
for the full selection.
